Cris-miss comes early for Fergie

ALEX FERGUSON admits Cris-miss came early — as Cristiano Ronaldo fluffed the sitter of the century.
The Manchester United winger somehow spooned over an empty net from just four yards out.

And boss Fergie said: “It was an unusual miss but the ball just bounced up a bit. He will not miss that again.”

Fergie was just glad the howler from the Portuguese flier in the dying moments did not come back to haunt his pace-setting side.

The Old Trafford gaffer added: “At the end of the day we can put it behind us.” At least Wayne Rooney had his shooting boots on, netting twice to keep United three points clear at the top.

HOW DID HE MISS? ... Ronaldo fails from point-blank range

Skipper Gary Neville said: “There was some great play going forward but we missed chances.

“We are grateful we got two because it would’ve been a bad day if we hadn’t got the result.”
