Papers: Don't boo Ronaldo

25/09/2006 08:58, Report by Steve Bartram

Ronaldo Thrives As Pantomime Villain
Reading captain Graeme Murty has warned Premiership fans: "For God's sake, leave Cristiano Ronaldo alone - you don't want to make him angry." Ronaldo earned a point for United at the Madjeski Stadium by equalising Kevin Doyle's penalty. The Portugal international was roundly booed and jeered throughout by Royals supporters but Murty thinks United's wing wizard revels in the role of pantomime villain. "The crowd gave him some stick, but my advice would be to leave him alone," said the right-back.

All the tabloids single out Ronaldo for special praise after the Reds' draw. Widespread too are Michael Carrick's post-match quotes, saying that United need to remain amongst the Premiership pacesetters rather than fall further behind Chelsea.

The Daily Mail also covers the good news that Ryan Giggs has resumed light jogging, and is on the road to recovery from his hamstring strain.
