Keane: Reds can overcome defeat

17/09/2006 17:26, Report by Ben Hibbs

Old Trafford legend Roy Keane says United will have been bitterly disappointed not to hang on for a draw, despite having a bad day at the office.

The former Reds skipper and Sunderland boss has played in some epic United-Arsenal battles and knows what it is like to win and lose.

“It was frustrating for me to, especially with the way the result went,” he told Sky Sports. “The manager will be bitterly disappointed. What will have frustrated the manager most is that it was a bad day, but when you have your bad days you still want to get something out of the game."

The defeat ended United's 100 per cent record, but Keane believes the Reds can come back from the disappointment. Keane added: “I think with ten minutes to go he would have been delighted with a draw. But I don’t think United need to panic. It was a disappointing result, but they have the experience and they will be fine.”

The Irishman was impressed with the performance of 19-year-old Gunners midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who set Emmanuel Adebayor’s 85th minute winning strike.

Old Trafford legend Roy Keane says United will have been bitterly disappointed not to hang on for a draw, despite having a bad day at the office.

“I don’ think United are [missing bite in midfield],” added Roy. “It was just today. And, credit to Arsenal, they did well. I thought Cesc Fabregas was outstanding today, especially for the goal. I don't think you can be too harsh on Ronaldo for losing the ball. There should have been a few more tackles once Fabregas got the ball. He’s a good player, but somebody should have got to him earlier.”
