Betting preview: Fulham

18/08/2006 15:45, Report by Mark Pearson

On MUTV betting show 'Sing When You're Winning', ex-Red Lou Macari analyses United’s game from a punter’s point of view. Alongside Lou in the MUTV studio is Mark Pearson, and here’s his view on the season opener...

It's here at last. The punter’s favourite league, the Barclays Premiership, is back! Hopefully we can point you in the direction of some winners. Last season we finished handsomely in profit and we’re ready to invest this campaign.

This season we’ll be backing the Reds to victory with a new betting partner at United. Betfred have specials, bonuses and some great football bets. Fred Done, Betfred Chairman and a massive Red, is a great traditional bookie as well.

Fred has given Sir Alex a charity bet and the boss is backing Cristiano Ronaldo to score at least 15 goals this season at odds of 6/1. This looks a good bet to me because I think the Portuguese star will take penalties this term. I’m also backing Cristiano to score anytime this Sunday at odds of 15/8.

As for the Fulham game itself, it should be a home banker but the odds of 2/9 are too short for me. Fulham only won once on the road last season but the London side were incredibly the last away team to score at Old Trafford and that was back in February.

The value as always is to try and predict the correct score. I’m going for a repeat of the first game in 2001 when the

Reds beat Fulham 3-2, and that’s a tasty 25/1.
What I can definitely guarantee is goals in this game and I fully expect Rooney and Scholes to show us what we’ll be missing when they unjustly serve their 3 match suspensions.
Good luck if you’re having a bet and I’ll be back on Tuesday ahead of the Charlton game.
Recommended BetsRonaldo to score 15 or more goals (6/1)Ronaldo to score anytime v Fulham (15/8)United to beat Fulham 3-2 (25/1)Luton, Nottingham Forest, Plymouth (£1 accumulator pays £6.33 with Betfred).
